Synopsis
In this personal and thought-provoking documentary, journalist and author Bruce Clark retraces his lifelong connection with Greece and the Parthenon. Shot in Cambridge and around the Acropolis, the film brings together classicists Paul Cartledge and Edith Hall, actor Janet Suzman and sculptor Helaine Blumenfeld to examine the legacy of the Parthenon sculptures and the debate over their rightful home.
The film argues that only by returning the sculptures to their Attic setting — where the light, landscape and original context can be experienced — can we truly grasp their meaning.

“As I walk again along the banks of the river Cam, I hear different voices. I return to my old university to ask why scholars and artists have changed their relationship with Greece. Instead of using Hellenic heritage for personal or imperial advantage, many are now working to reunite and restore what was broken — both sculptures and friendships. This film is my way of joining that effort.”
